Yesterday at 5:00p.m. we had to be at the ball park for our first regular game or so we thought. We came to find out that we were actually finishing up our tournament because of the cancellation Friday when we were rained out (Not just any rain either, the pouring of all pourings, by the time I ran to the car and got Blake in and struggled stuffing the stroller in to the trunk I looked like I had jumped in the lake!) We played SC first and it was a pretty easy win. Secondly we played D5 and again a pretty easy win.
Now, Let me set the stage here. It is now 8:30 p.m. Our kids are tired, hungry, and cold. Even though it is late we are informed we have to play another game or forfeit, they would not let us re-schedule. Normally I would have said forfeit, but a few nights back we played this same D1 team. A team consisting of only one girl and many huge (football playing, twinky eating sized) boys who were very very good. They creamed us and to date are the only ones to beat us so far. Plus they didn't have very good sportsman like attitudes and there coach was down right nasty. THE KIDS WANTED ANOTHER CHANCE TO REDEEM THEMSELVES AND WE (parents and coaches) WERE READY TO RUMBLE!
The game was AMAZING! We were hitting home runs left and right! Everything was tied up at the bottom of the ninth. We entered into our extra inning and despite our hard work they pulled out a six point lead with the final score being 25-19. Even though we didn't win the game our kids played their hearts out and we had SO MUCH FUN cheering them on!!! They placed second in the tournament and even though it was 10:00when we left the ballpark we were so hyper from the rush of such a wonderful game we didn't crash in the bed until 11:00!
