New Pet ?!

I think it was Wednesday. I was picking up Hailey Paige from school and as I walked on to the playground I was greeted by her and a very large black hairy caterpillar......yes, I like the fuzzy caterpillar song we sing at church, I think they are amazing, but I detest creepy crawly things like worms and the sight of this nasty thing made my skin crawl!

Hailey ever so sweetly begged me to let her take it home ~ "NO WAY!" was the nicest way I could respond(I was so grossed out), but then this smarty pants of a little girl walked up to us and said "My Mommy will be picking me up soon. I will ask her to let me take home a caterpillar and she will let me" (kinda in that na-na-na-boo-boo tone and she was looking strait at Hailey). That kinda got me fired up. I know its childish but I could see the disappointment swelling in Hailey's eyes and it just got the best of me.

No, she didn't bring the big black hairy one home that day, but we went straight to Walmart and bought a bug cage so she could bring one home on Thursday! So now we have a pet caterpillar named "Hermie" that is a smooth lime green colored little thing. Hailey loves him and as long as I don't have to touch him. I guess he can stay until he flies away.
